Losing streaks vs Federer

Davydenko
Soderling
Hewitt

Streaks all broken.

Federer is really starting to suck now. The first signs were there in 2007. Worse, the fire seems to have gone. He doesn't seem to give a shit about losing to guys who couldn't touch him at his peak.

Re: Losing streaks vs Federer

who cares about roger nowadays?

he has it all

GOAT status

family hapiness

he plays for fun only

Q. Do you think you would have been able to play as well as you played today, or you think you would have pulled out from the game if it wasn't the Masters Cup final?

ROGER FEDERER: No, Roger Federer doesn't pull out. Otherwise he doesn't walk on court (smiling).

After losing to Nalbandian in 2005 TMC final...

Re: Losing streaks vs Federer

Well, not so much the streaks are going, just that Fed outside slams ...... the masters results have been gone for 3 years now, then WTF, then Basel, then the slam sf streak.

Inevitable Hewitt/Davy and co would beat him eventually when he's losing to everybody in best-of-3.

Add Del Potro and Baggy to the mix as well.

Re: Losing streaks vs Federer

Nothing lasts forever. Moreover, Federer's obituary has been written twice in the last couple of years, and both times it was premature, so I'm not ready to leap off the cliff just yet. Those players you mention are too good not to get another win over Federer eventually, if Benneteau and Montanes are also capable of doing it.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Re: Losing streaks vs Federer

The thing is that Hewitt and Davy are about Federes age, so we can not really explain Fed's decline relatively to them by age (as they aged along lol). Therefore I do not think feds problem is only age, he is in a slump also.

Some players decline earlier than others. Edberg was practically in the OAP home at 28.

It must be Robredo's turn next or Ferrer.

Yeah but I believe Federer has still one excellent strecht of play in him. he just needs to fire it up and not fall into nostalgia-mode.

Re: Losing streaks vs Federer

I'm really hoping for a Roddick-Federer QF...that's if Fed can make it that far.

I'm sure Roddick will feel he's next in line to break the streak of Fed losses. Good mentality is all it takes these days.

Ernests Gulbis. Robin Soderling. Tomas Berdych.

Del Potro ~ Tsonga ~ Simon ~ Chardy ~ Verdasco ~ Djokovic ~ Gasquet

The Federror #1 reign is over for good. The king is dead. Praise Odin!!

Possibly, but age doesn't affect everyone equally. Not just in terms of physical decline, but the adaptation to slightly slower reactions and footwork - some change their game, some just stubbornly play the same way.
