Players of the future: Tomic and De Bakker

I think both these guys Tomic (17) and De Bakker (21) are gonna be top players withing 2 years. Why does everyone seem to dislike Tomic, he seems like a nice player to watch.

Federer and Nadal fan!

Because he's an arrogant little prick who struts around like he's won 287 grand slams.

Yeah but he is 17 and probably top 100 in ability, he has a great chance of winning a few slams in his career. Maybe it's confidence and not arrogance.

Federer and Nadal fan!

Re: Players of the future: Tomic and De Bakker

I think people dislike Tomic's attitude more than his style of play. Who does the kid think he is to refuse a practise session with Hewitt? And his father is worse than Jelena Dokic's; and as for the rest of his family, they rule him and his career.

To be quite honest, the kid seems like an arrogant and petulant little man.

As for De Bakker, I have no care for him, but I wish him luck in his career.

Love him or hate him, if Tomic can become a GS contender it would be good for the sport. Australian men's tennis can't rely on Hewitt forever, and it's always good for slam host countries to have contenders at their own tournaments.

Re: Players of the future: Tomic and De Bakker

i hate him because he's an arrogant little prick and he demonstrated how much of a brat he is when he threw that fit about having to play late night against cilic at the australian open.

he is young yes but i dont see him changing, i see his ego getting worse

so honestly i dont care how good he can play tennis its never good for the sport when someone with an attitude like his is running around

i;m not so sure about that, imagine what he'll be like when he gets older and actually starts winning things

Re: Players of the future: Tomic and De Bakker

there are more young promising players, who are still under 20 and playing well - Berankis, Del Bonis to name a few. Tomic can be good if he sorts out his attitude and becomes just a bit more humble

Tomic is a twat and Kontinen will have a better career than him. Hope that helps.

Hate Tomic! I honestly think Dimitrov, Kontinen, Krajinovic, Harrison and some other youngers will have a better career than him as well.

As for De Bakker, I also think he'll be a top player fairly soon, has a nice game, just needs to put it together more often that not.

Re: Players of the future: Tomic and De Bakker

Tomic is a kid, you have to understand that all kids had moments where they acted stupid, and the fact he has so many yes men around him and everyone telling him how great he is, that will get to most children his age. So it's hard to hold a grudge over what a kid whose growing up in the national spotlight in Australia says and does, he makes mistakes, everyone does.

About the game, Tomic can be a top 5/10 guy I think, but De Bakker is overrated to me. Good, but more 13-21 player instead of top 5.

like i said i understand tomic is a kid but there are people who never grow up, people that dont change all that much as they go from teen to adult and he just seems like he's going to be one of those people who always has a massive ego/attitiude problem.
