He has a good shot at the last part of this year since he's not defending practically anything after the US Open, whether he does it or not, that will depend on both his and Rafa's performances

Maybe he can claim the week or two he needs for the record in an agonic fashion this year, then Rafa can get back to #1

Well, it's too early to answer that, but i think it deppends more of Nadal than Rogie. If Nadal can keep of of physical problems and injuries, i think that the oppurtunitie of seeing Federer retourning to #1 spot it's very unlikely to happen...
