Suprised there has been no thread about this yet, given there is always one for every slam..usually unjustifiably.
2010 started well, the AO was very enjoyable with lots of thrilling matches..but this years French Open has been so boring.
The womens was an absolute chokefest/jokefest, but nothing new there.
The mens hasn't been vintage. Last year was saved by the Soderling/Nadal match.
Even the 5 set semi between Birdytch and Soderling was without it's charm IMO. Some great line painting from Soderling but were used to it from him.
Meltzers run was fantastic..but not enough for me when it ended relatively poorly.
Nadal hasn't been playing well..hes not the most exciting player to watch, but in the past you had to
to his game..but not this year, he looks very beatable. I won't comment on his draw.
Verdasco was beyond dissapointing.
Roddick went out en cue, was expecting him to make at least another round.
Missing Davydenko, Simon etc. Those guys are usually good value.
Murray Vs Gasgay was entertaining, but too typical from Gasket. It was nothing special from Murray, as we saw later on, Gasquet just ran out of gas (no pun intended).
Federer looked very good up until the Soderling match, but his early exit was predictable.
Gulbis was expected to be good value but bonked out.
Hopefully the final saves the tournament, but even if its a classic, I for one have found this tournament the most boring I have seen in some time.
How does everyone else feel? I have grown to like the clay court more over time, the matches have been better over the last couple of years. But this FO was nothing special.
It is ironic that what might well be Nadals most sucessfull clay court season ever has also been one of his most unconvincing
If broken down point by point. Still, making the final without losing a set is special.
I'm not expecting anything special for Wimbledon either to be honest. Heres hoping the grass is fast
