Poll: Has the French Open swapped with the Aus Open in terms of suprise finalists?
From 2005-2008 the Australian Open became famous for having some outsiders making impressive runs to the final.
Safin-Hewitt 2005, Baghdatis in 2006, Gonzalez in 2007, Djokovic and Tsonga in 2008. This ended in 2009 with a no 1 vs no 2 final, although some would argue Rafael Nadal reaching the final of the Australian Open was a suprise. But I digress.
In 2009 Soderling shocked the world by making the French Open final.
In 2010 the AO final was fairly predictable, Roger Federer and Andy Murray. So the streak is over.
But in 2010 FO things have gone a little different again. Either way as of writing, Soderling or Berdych will reach the final. Even though Soderling was a finalist last year, he was not expected to make it, and Berdych would of course be a HUGE suprise. Of course Federer had only been beaten by one player in Paris in the last 6 years, so him not making the finals was a huge suprise. Either way, a Soderling Nadal Final, Berdytch Nadal final, or Soderling Meltzer final and Berdytch Meltzer final will be a suprise it is safe to say.
Has the French tennis open become the giant killing event of the calander?
"I did not play my best tennis, no? And..that is what enable him to win..to win this match no? "
