Sod vs Bird and Sod vs Rafa

What do you think would be a harder match for Soderling?

Soderling vs Berdych

or

Soderling vs Nadal

Consider variations in conditions

(btw, checked weather reports, will be sunny and chances it might rain by sunday)

Soderling vs Nadal is a better matchup for Soda, but it's against the currently second best clay player in history.

Soderling vs berdych seems more of a gamble to me.

Re: Sod vs Bird and Sod vs Rafa

Against Berdych.

Tomas' hitting can trouble Robin a lot if Tomas is hitting the ball flat, where as Rafa's shot play into Robin's advantage most of the time.

Even this is on clay I still do believe Berdych will be the harder of the 2 matches assuming both happen.

Berdych | Murray | Tsonga | Monfils | Raonic | Soderling

Nadal playing better than last year on RG.

Re: Sod vs Bird and Sod vs Rafa

Against Nadal. Soderling destroyed Cilic. A guy who plays similar to Berdych. The flat hitting on clay just isn't as effective unless you are Del Potro or Soderling. Nadal on a hot and dry day on clay is the ultimate tough matchup. Weather might not allow that though unfortunately. Nadal is definitely more ready this time around with being 100% fit. Btw if Berdych wins, that says on how confident Berdych is right now. When Berdych was confident, he beat Nadal on hardcourts.

Bird Shit

"I did not play my best tennis, no? And..that is what enable him to win..to win this match no? "

- Rafael Nadal, ever so "humble", - press conference after shock 4 set loss to Robeen Soderling @ 2009 French Open 4th round.

Berdych's current form dates to Indian Wells, where he lost to Nadal. Still not got quite enough.

Doesn't really matter, it's more up to Robin than whoever he faces on the other side of the net. Although the same could probably be said for Berdych. With Rafa you know what you'll get every single time, his lowest level of clay is still top3 if not higher but Robin's highest level of play would probably make him the favorite.

OT, but have you got the updated serve and breaks stats for RG compared to the other clay tournies?

If you did, I'd consider including you in my testament.

Tennis has no blood passport system, and does basically no out of competition testing.

The methods and drugs used by Armstrong in 1999 would work in tennis right now, with zero chance of being caught (not slightly surprising to anyone familiar with the topic, btw).

Berdych played alright that match but he really started playing his best when he was a break down in the 2nd and at that stage he was outplaying Nadal quite a bit. Still would be lovely to see Nadal and Berdych play on the hard courts this year again.

It's never up to Robin. Even when Robin beat an injured pain-killer-addicted Nadal last year he still needed a tie-break in the 4th set. If that match had gone into a 5th set you always go with Nadal for the win. That was despite perfectly heavy conditions and Robin painting the lines. In other words, if an injured Nadal wasn't far from Soderling's 'unbeatable' level then a healthy Nadal will win regardless of what Soderling does.

Re: Sod vs Bird and Sod vs Rafa

If Robin plays like he played vs RF, it'll be easy for him to beat both Berdych and Nadal but will he play like last tuesday???
That's the big question, he's unconstant sometimes...
