What with the semi-final run finally ending yesterday, I was wondering which streaks people think are the most impressive in tennis - obvious examples include the semi-final streak, Vilas' 46 match wins in a row, Rafa's 81 wins in a row on clay, Querrey's ten aces in a row... which other ones? Also, which streaks will be the hardest to break?
This. They are all great (well, the 10 aces is more of a random effect), but 23 SF in majors tell the story of a high level consistency that simply can´t be compared with the other. Guess one could also consider Budge's 6 consecutive slams, nobody has ever won more than 4 on a row.
They are all impressive in their own ways. It will be a VERY long time before anyone even comes close to breaking it (speaking of which, does anyone know the current second best streak of semifinals for active players?)
Rafa's 80+ wins on clay is also really impressive, as is Roger's 65 consecutive wins on grass (especially considering how woefully short the grass season is)
Someday these records could be broken, but I think they are all really impressive and it's been an honour to be able to see them happening.
