All-Around Player

Obviously, player nowadays mostly play a baseline game, but I feel like some of them have the skills to play an all-around game. You know, good serve, good ground strokes, and a good net game. I think Murray, Haas, Tsonga, Gasquet, and of course, Federer, all have the skills to play all-around. What do you think? Who do you feel has the skills to be an all-around player?

I'm gonna make a poll to see who do you think has the best all-around skills on the tour. I'm sorry if the player of your choice is not on the poll, just pick "other". One more thing, the poll's gonna be "Aside from FEDERER". Cause if he's in the poll, almost everybody will pick him Yes, I know, Fed has the best all-around game on tour. So, maybe it's a poll for 2nd best.

Re: All-Around Player

Funny you should choose to relegate into the 'other' category the only active player besides Federer that happens to have won slams on 3 different surfaces. Sums up your balanced view of tennis pretty well. What a joke.

I think the poster is talking about having a varied gamestyle rather than being a good all-court player.

Will Federer regain the #1 spot and break Sampras's record for most weeks at the top?

Roger // Rafa // Raonic // Söderling // Goffin // Ivo // Wawrinka // Baker // Delpo

I know, but even in that regard, do you really think Murray for example is overehlmingly better in the net or can S&V so much better than Nadal? I would never say Nadal has the best all-round game, even after excluding Fed, but I am certain he has the shots to make the list above and his abscense from it is a travesty of what balanced tennis fans have been watching these last 6 years. That is how I see it.

I'm not talking about achievements. Of course Nadal is better than all of the players in the poll. But I just don't think Nadal has a good enough serve and net game. That's it.

Well. Roddick has a super serve, good enough ground game, and an effective net-game.

Davydenko and Delpo seem likely candidates.

Both are useless on grass, so no.

Novak Djokovic Rafael Nadal

David Ferrer - Leyton Hewitt - David Nalbandian - Marcos Baghdatis - Janko Tipsarevic - Tommy Haas
