Forget Guy Forget!
Has everyone except true tennis fans like me forgotten what Pete Sampras did in the 1995 Davis Cup Final in Moscow, Russia on a slow red clay court? Sampras single handedly won the Davis Cup for America in heroic fashion with thrilling but extremely grueling wins over Yevegeny Kafelnikov and Andrei Chesnokov! And Sampras also led America to victory in the doubles, too.
Remember that Eggy?
But Sampras never got over the fact that hardly anyone paid attention to one of the greatest achievements in his illustrous career!
And that's why he's given the Davis Cup the cold shoulder for most of the past 6 years.
If Sampras was in Paris to play the Davis Cup semifinals, it would receive alot more attention than it will get. That's for sure.
But I don't think Pete wanted to go all the way to Paris to play quick as a cat players like Grosjean and Clement on slow red clay!
Todd Martin and Mardy Fish?
I'd rather have John McEnroe and any American player playing doubles!
Ace Tracker, Blake can hold his own in Davis Cup? Really? Roddick has proven he can win Davis Cup matches. Blake hasn't. But I hope he can. But Grosjean and Clement are going to be tough to beat on red clay.
If Patrick McEnroe had only played Roddick in the Davis Cup last year in Switzerland, I think the U.S. team would have won that Tie, too!
But he just let this devastating young gun sit on the bench!
