Munich R1: Berdych def. Krawietz 6-1 6-1

Pretty much expected, but a nice and easy way to start his defence of the title here in Munich. Only worrying thing is his 1st serve % which was 43% at the end of the match and at times under 20%

Another thing is how did this kid get a WC? He's not even in the top 1000!

Berdych gave the kid a free lesson in how to play top level tennis today.

Tomas only lost 2 points on serve as well, and considering most of his serves were 2nd serves, it's quite worrying for Krawietz!

Pretty obvious that Krawietz isn't up to ATP level tennis by far... only got a WC because he's a young German player (you might call it a waste!).

Congrats Birdman, and thanks for the cash.
Do something about your 1st serve though.

What can he do with the 1st serve though?

Well, find the balance between trying to hit aces and dumping the balls into the net/hitting the tramrails/launching a missile out of the stadium.
That's the theory, at least.

Not such a bad idea, should defo try something similar against lower ranked opponents I guess.

I would advise him against getting a few lessons from Federer for this matter .

I doubt Federer would waste his time on Tomas though

Although there are so few tournaments here, a player like Krawietz managed to get 2 singles WCs and also 2 doubles WCs within a year. I guess it had also to do with the fact that Brands got in, but still it sucks.
