Rome R3: Ferrer def Murray 6-3 6-4

N.I.D

Murray didn't play too badly at times but way too short on the crosscourt BH, Ferrer got too many inside out FHs. That smash at 3-3

Pics was solid enough. Better player won, but Murray was quite close.

Vamos Dahveed.

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

Re: Rome R3: Ferrer def Murray 6-3 6-4

Murray played way better then in his last few tournaments but it was obvious he was the underdog from the start and in the end Ferrer was much more solid

NID.
Very entertaining match

Murray not up there yet on clay. He never had a chance against someone like Ferrer on this surface.

When I'm good, I'm very good...but when I'm bad, I'm better

Another servant in quarters.

Nadal must feel comfortable.

The better clay-courter won today.

Murray's serve is too inconsistent, even on this surface.

What were you expecting?
Murray can't touch Nadal on clay.

Re: Rome R3: Ferrer def Murray 6-3 6-4

expected, any decent claycourter can derail Murray

Rafael "The Matador of Spin" Nadal
Roger “The Magician of Precision” Federer
Del Potro, Ferrer, Haas, Zeballos

Re: Rome R3: Ferrer def Murray 6-3 6-4

I don't get it. Did he think he could outlast Ferrer playing defense ?
What is he paying Corretja for, to tell him to keep the ball in play? What was all the slicing about? Ferrer was comfortable, he didn't even play a great match.
If Murray's ambition is to win a couple of matches here and there on clay, perhaps reaching the third round at RG, then he's on the right track. But I would think someone like him would try to play far more offensive: the way he played Nadal at the AO and at MC 2009.

Re: Rome R3: Ferrer def Murray 6-3 6-4

Ferrer was the usual beastly stuff, save for some wobbles when ahead.

Murray couldn't serve most of the match, first set was something like 30%. Way too many basic errors too, and yeah ......that smash to hold at *3-3. Was slightly the better player in the 2nd set till that point, holding pretty easily and pushing Ferrer on serve.
