Re: What's Wrong With Fernando Gonzalez?

In MTF tradition, he needs to retire.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: What's Wrong With Fernando Gonzalez?

No motivation. Maybe the earthquake yes, but he lost before it at home against Bellucci...

His tennis is still here : he played a very good match against Roddick at OA (during four sets at least).

He's just tweeted after his match: fergonchile: Cansado y apenado ... No jugue bien

Re: What's Wrong With Fernando Gonzalez?

Well, he played pretty well at AO this year and then turned into some mug.

Mardy Fish!

Brian Baker - Steve Johnson - Lleyton Hewitt - Carlos Berlocq - Tommy Haas - Ivo Karlovic - Richard Gasquet - Kevin Anderson - David Ferrer - Michael Russell - Fabio Fognini - Dustin Brown - Somdev Devvarman

You're right, Bellucci is a good player especially on clay.
But it's the way he lost it : Gonzo was leading 6-3, 4-2 (didn't face any break points) and was the two defending champion...This defeat was already worrying.

Re: What's Wrong With Fernando Gonzalez?

Most likely the earthquake and its effects are still on his mind.

Otherwise, he could be another player falling victim to his age...obviously not everyone falls off the map at 29-30 years old, but when you consider how long he has been near the top of the game, it is inevitable that his level would drop at some stage.

Exactly, the Chilenos are a proud nation and of course something like that is going to hurt them. Not entirely why he might not be playing well but it's understandable..
