what a clown, retiring two games short from defeat, no wonder Ferrero was smiling in disbelief at the handshake

Stupid retirement. He was 30-0 down at 4-2, only needed to wait 6 more points.

Anyway, another solid win for JCF. Might have chances this week with Rafa out.

Well he retired when 2 points away from losing to Murray last year in Dubai as well! What a clown!

Unfortunately I didn't get to see the match. Was there any indication that he was injured?

He received treatment on his thigh after the first set. His movement looked awkward at times late in the second set but I'm not 100% sure if it was because of the injury or because he doesn't have good footwork on clay.
And Juan Carlos likes to move the opponent from side to side, so...

Still, JC had to save a couple of break points early in the second set, so it wasn't smooth sailing all the way. But he never panicked and always found his way out.

Good luck to Juan Carlos vs De Bakker!

JUAN CARLOS FERRERO FOREVER!!

Also supporting Rafael Nadal, Kei Nishikori, Lleyton Hewitt
David Ferrer, Andy Murray, Juan Martin Del Potro, Nikolay Davydenko, David Nalbandian
Goran Ivanisevic and Marat Safin

Wasn't that similar to what Nadal did when he retired in Australia after being down 6-3 7-6 (7-2) 3-0?
