I only saw the 2nd set and I have no idea how Chardy managed to reach a tiebreak the way he was playing. He seemed to have no control on his groundstrokes at all, it was scary.

Chardy is playing awfully, he can lose to anyone. Maybe he will be jst a journeyman after all.

What a woeful match I cannot believe I watched it from the start to finish.

Chardy was an absolute error machine today. Golubev was just a bit better, and it was enough for him to win the match.

Couple of nice smashes by Chardy... flew at least some 5 meters beyond the baseline

Re: Monte Carlo R1: Andrey Golubev def. Jeremy Chardy 6-2 7-6

I learned from my Miami draw challenge fiasco that I should just make the draw and not wait for the draw to be updated with the qualifiers... And called this one .

After Nadal beat Monfils at Doha, before AO 2014

Only Del Potro can take him out before the semis, and he won't. Nadal is winning the AO, bet your house on it.
Somewhere out there, there is a homeless person who once took betting advice from GSMnadal

A great gift from Chardy to Andrey. And some nice ATP points for the Kazakh.

Re: Monte Carlo R1: Andrey Golubev def. Jeremy Chardy 6-2 7-6

I was there, saw the first part of the first set and the end of the second. It was bad - nothing more to say, so many groundies out; but not even close, many of them by a meter or more.

thank God I stuck to my not-bet-on-frenchies rule and decided to stay away from this one

Rafael "The Matador of Spin" Nadal
Roger “The Magician of Precision” Federer
Del Potro, Ferrer, Haas, Zeballos
