Do 1 slam wonders retire forgotten?

In say 10 years after they retire, do modern 1 slam wonders retire essentially forgotten?

In this era of 2 slam wonders like Hewitt and Safin, and dominant players like Aggassi, Sampras, Nadal, Federer over the last 15 years, is it likely the 1 slam wonders Roddick, Johanassen, Gaudio, Del Potro etc will be rememebred very well 15 - 20 years from now?

I think some of the one scam wonders will be forgotten, Roddick will be memorable because he played Federer so many times in the finals of grand sham tournaments.

Which other 1 scam wonders will be memorable more than others?

Discuss.

"I did not play my best tennis, no? And..that is what enable him to win..to win this match no? "

Re: Do 1 slam wonders retire forgotten?

I can't remember who this Del Potro is right now, in 10 years perspective I'm more than sure that even 6 Slam wonders would be forgotten for good.

Re: Do 1 slam wonders retire forgotten?

I think people yes, and people no. People that watch tennis for sport in if same, and not por extremefanatic for a player not forgotten them.

Player that won 1 or 2 GS but anymore maybe yes. But roddick, safin, hewitt I think definitively not. They were n° 1

Do you remember Rafter (2 GS + 2 finales), Brugera (2 GS + 1 final),Chang (1 GS + 3 finals), Ivanisevic (1 GS + 3 finals), Stich (1 GS + 2 finals)?? I do.

Re: Do 1 slam wonders retire forgotten?

Del Potro is 22 years old Quite early to say that he will retire forgotten with one slam. Imagine opening the same thread in early 2003 and asking: "will Federer retire slamless and forgotten ?"

^Comparing brainless ballbasher to future GOAT in their early years is a crime to the sport. Potro is finished. We can easily sum his career up now.

Wish there was a way to donate a few brain cells to 2003 (and still deprive him of a keyboard)

Awww, looks like tennis is just not your sport.
Fed hits the ball, Del Mugro bashes it. I thought it's so axiomatic, but you never know with MTF.
