How bad is this for Federer ?

Two former pigeons are taking you out in back to back tourneys, both saving MPs.
What does this mean for Federer ?

how bad is it ?

Q. Do you think you would have been able to play as well as you played today, or you think you would have pulled out from the game if it wasn't the Masters Cup final?

ROGER FEDERER: No, Roger Federer doesn't pull out. Otherwise he doesn't walk on court (smiling).

After losing to Nalbandian in 2005 TMC final...

Re: How bad is this for Federer ?

It's not bad at all. How many tournaments did Sampras go through without winning a single one before winning the USO to end his career? LOTS. Federer is at the stage in his career where he only has to win slams. He has nearly every record there is and he will set some more before he hangs up his racquet. He won't win two grand slams back to back nine years apart, but I think he's probably ok with that. If he can get the grand slam this year, he will be very satisfied.

Re: How bad is this for Federer ?

Berdych saving a MP and winning against Federer is just pure funny, same with Baghdatis which was an even worse choke

Though as it's Federer, it isn't bad at all.

Not as bad as losing to Cañas back to back in 2007 when he was still close to his peak. He will be fine.

Need ideas for a new signature...

Those events means everything to him. Can't see him recovering after those.

As bad as one could imagine. Nadal will win the French and Wimbledon for sure now.

At this point, after 16 slams and so many "he's done" threads. Sooner or latr he's going to fade, but still is going to be a threat. With a wife, twins, and all the money and achievements ... let him be human. Not a fan but he's

Re: How bad is this for Federer ?

I have just looked at federer's record in 3 sets matches for 2003-2010. As many peoples have pointed out, fed's been very bad in 3 sets matches lately...

Wins in 3 sets (wins with a 3rd set tie-break)-Loses in 3 sets(loses with a 3rd set tie-break)=winning % in 3 sets matches

2010 :
2(0)-2(2)=50%

2009 :
6(0)-9(1)=40%

2008 :
6(1)-8(1)=43%

2007 :
10(1)-4(2)=71%

2006 :
17(4)-1(0)=94%

2005 :
15(4)-1(1)=94%

2004 :
11(1)-3(0)=79%

2003 :
15(3)-6(2)=71%

Re: How bad is this for Federer ?

Well, in these same events in 2007, he was losing to Guillermo Canas, then in 2008, it was Mardy Fish and Roddick, then last year, he was falling apart against Murray and Djokovic; basically, underperforming in the Indian Wells/Miami run is par for the course for Federer at this stage of his career.
