Interesting how players from the former Yugo dominated IW.
Lubijcic -CH Mens - Croatia
Jankovic - CH Womens - Serbia
Zimonjic & Nestor(ovic) - Runner up Mens Doubles - Serbia (Nestor is CAN citizen but born in Belgrade)
Srebotnik - CH Womens Doubles - Slovenia
In 2008 Djokovic and Ivanovic swept the singles at IW
Despite the years of civil war in former Yugo, despite the bombing of Serbia, despite the poor economic situation, these people made it through somehow and are a dominant tennis presence. How can that be?
In the US we have everything, including a population of 300 mill.
actually in slovenia and split (mario ancic, goran ivanisevic) wasn't war. it was near to split, but actually it wasn't in split. in zagreb (karlovic) wasn't war about cilic, i think it was war in his town.
ljubicic knows what really war is.
in serbia was 2 months of war. civil buildings and people wasn't target. so that wasn't real war.
but however acievments are great, ubnormal good. but on the other hand ex-yugloslavian countries has that succes almost in every sport. so...
this mastes is beyond of average. but ljubo won, so is great really
