Which part of "Murray asked for a wildcard a week ago; Murray asked for 5 hotel rooms a few days ago" did you not understand?
This happened way after his run in Australia. That kind of spontaneous dicking around with a tournament director isn't as usual as some Murray fans may want to think. Of course, we don't know Murray's version of it (and it isn't even that interesting).
I'm certainly not making excuses for him - if the story is that he asked for a doubles wildcard last week and the hotels last week and then decided last minute then he changed his mind fairly late in the day, that he needed more time before returning to the tour - and he's entitled to do that but would do better to try to avoid dicking around with the tournament.
But we don't have Murray's side of the story.
What we have is the rant to the media from a tournament director who in the normal course of events would deal with requests like this, completely non-extraordinary from a top player, without batting an eyelid.
