Lightbulb One has to beat Federer in order to win a GS!

For today, apart from Rafa, only Del Potro and Djokovic have a chance against Federer in a GS match. They both won their matches against him in their GS victories. So I think the key to winning a GS is winning against Federer in a GS match.
For Murray I think, he has one or two matches left to win against Federer in a GS match. For now the situation is hopeless for him. For the third match, if he is demolished by Federer 3-0 like previous two matches, I think the probability of winning against Federer and so winning a GS decreases near to zero for him. What are your thoughts?

Might be different now that Nadal has fallen down the rankings. Nadal could end up facing Roger in SF or even QF. If Nadal takes him out then Djoko and Murray will really fancy their chances.

Nadal's fall down the rankings could reverse the situation where Federer is hoping Soderling/ Djoko/ Murray etc etc takes out Nadal. Now these guys will be hoping Nadal can take out Federer for them.

Nadal did not beat Federer because he is some kind of Fed-Killer. He beat him because he played better (or at least as good). If he returns to that level, he will be No.2 in time for Wimbledon. If he does not, he won't stop Federer in a GS quarter or semi.

If you want a slam you have to beat the GOAT.

The last man to win a slam without beating Fed en route to the title is Gaston Gaudio, back in 2004. Federer is just always ... there.

Even if a player does win a slam without facing Federer (somehow), everyone is bound to piss all over it - calling it a cake walk draw. So yes, it does seem that you need to beat Feds in order to become a GS champ in reality and on this borad.

Well I've also seen people calling a GS-victory a victory with a '*' attached to it when that winner didn't play Rafa to get there.

Eventually it is all very simple: to win a GS, you'll have to beat all seven opponents in front of you, whoever they are. Not as easy a job as some make it seem to be.

Federer is the Gate Keeper of the Slams.

This is how I thought the OP would read, and its a very strong point. Nobody in the last 23 slams has been able to collect a slam trophy unless they defeat Fed.
