Veic served for a 2-1 lead at 6*-5, but couldn't convert. Bounced back well, though.

Also showed some resilience in the fifth; he had points for a double break lead, then was broken at 4*-3, only to break right back and then hold to take it.

Very good win for him. Another Croat who won a 5setter in the GS MD debut
It's a great thing we have 5 guys in the 2nd round
But I don't rate Veic's game highly so I just hope Monfils won't crash him

Hilarious match, the court was packed 10 deep on both sides and lots of players were there.

Plenty of needle as well. Koellerer got a warning for an audible obscenity and one for racquet abuse.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".
