AO R1: Del Potro def. Russell 6-4 6-4 3-6 6-2

Juan

He totally lost it in the third set after fighting with the chair umpire and I think his wrist isn't as well as it should be, he lacked a bit of firepower in this match

BTW: a three hour match in R128 is EXACTLY what he needs

Rafael "The Matador of Spin" Nadal
Roger “The Magician of Precision” Federer
Del Potro, Ferrer, Haas, Zeballos

Pot Smoke never looked dangerous... he was finding it hard to keep up with a 31 year old... i am sure if he had played muggay today he would have been straight setted based on form, such is the piteous condition of pork chop... just all fluke, this one slam wonder...

Del Po won't make it far in this tourney -- would like him to but the court is moving too slow and his injury will just get worse

After lacking a bit of practice and carrying an injury, any win is a good one. That said, I hope that being on court for so long won't have aggravated his wrist. Good stuff Juan

Russell's no joke - he's a wily veteran and was striking the ball extremely well tonite. I remember watching him at '07 RG against Fed and he gave him fits in that 1st set.

Delpo's wrist appears to be okay and he was serving some serious bombs in the 4th set. All in all, a good workout for Delps.

Q. How do you feel physically?

JUAN MARTIN DEL POTRO: Well, of course, I don't feel hundred percent, but I am feel better than yesterday, and I hope be better for tomorrow, for Wednesday, in my next match.

Q. Does it hurt when you play?

JUAN MARTIN DEL POTRO: A little bit. After two hours match the pain came and I feel a little bit, but I can play. Of course, if I be here, I want to win matches.

I think the pain came when the umpire wouldn't let him challenge. he just cracked it, and it took ages for him to calm down.
