"Fat Albert" Montañes in the semi-final of a hardcourt tournament

Surely worth a thread.

Never past the 2nd round before and never beyond the qf even at Challenger level.

Winnable semi-final against Isner as well. They met in the first round here last year with Little John edging it 6 and 5.

Albert is surely the favourite given his stunning form here so far taking out Lemke, Statham and Lammer.

This could be the end of the world as we know it.

You guys can laugh, but I've seen every match so far and he has really been playing well, espacially in the second sets of his matches.

Maybe he considers it indoor and not hard?

Anyway well done Albert.

Tennis has no blood passport system, and does basically no out of competition testing.

The methods and drugs used by Armstrong in 1999 would work in tennis right now, with zero chance of being caught (not slightly surprising to anyone familiar with the topic, btw).

Oops, yeah, I just used Tennis Insight's hardcourt filter.

I actually remember that Stockholm event. The opening Sunday viewers were treated to the spectacle of Albert v Bopanna iirc as the main event. A great advertisement for Sunday starts.

That's gotta be the most farcical route to a 250 SF I have ever seen.

Decent player though. I saw him in Bucharest last year and he's got a gorgeous one handed backhand. He can put it on a sixpence from almost anywhere. Never looks even slightly flustered about anything either, almost to the point where he doesn't look bothered. I went to watch the practice courts before the final and the contrast couldn't have been greater - Monaco was topless and slogging his forehand about as hard as is humanly imaginable and Montanes was hitting serves at about 80 to a guy who couldn't even play tennis! LOL

People complain about the draws the top players get but this one is ridiculous, kudos to Albert for having been able to take advantage of it but I do think he's falling to Isner

Rafael "The Matador of Spin" Nadal
Roger “The Magician of Precision” Federer
Del Potro, Ferrer, Haas, Zeballos

Cool Albert Guess Dani will be well pleased with this

But yeah, I think Isner will beat him

Berdych | Murray | Tsonga | Monfils | Raonic | Soderling

Travolta is making ominous strides in his mission to challenge King Oscar for the Wimbledon title.

Isn't he seeded 8th? If so then he deserves a decent-ish draw. If not, ignore me.

He got to the 3r of wimbledon, didn't he? last year?

Somewhat fortunate draw there too though, Zemlja and Canas.
