Kooyong: Verdasco def. Gonzalez 7-5 6-1

Nando was too solid for Feña, whom pulled a William Tell stunt on the net lady

both were kinda goofing around in lots of the match, I guess both being spanish speakers help with that

Rafael "The Matador of Spin" Nadal
Roger “The Magician of Precision” Federer
Del Potro, Ferrer, Haas, Zeballos

Expected. Nando was in winning position in all his matches @ WTF but somehow managed to lose all of them. If he can somehow get mentally tougher I expect bigger things from him this year.

This was a really entertaining match, but Gonzo didn't seem up to scratch.

But other than the net lady, has anyone mentioned the point where Verdasco served a ball straight into Gonzalez's own set? Hilarious!

In the first set it looked like a regular match between these two, and was really good actually . But in the second Gonzo couldn't get two shots in the court and it looks like he gave up. I think maybe his idea was that if he won the first set he'd keep up his good level but if not he wouldn't fight to win in 3. Either way, he's getting some match practice, and I loved his manner, he really seemed to enjoy himself.

As for Nando, I'm very happy with his level of play. It's obvious he's recovered well from his foot surgery and hasn't really missed a beat. He was also playing very patiently, maybe something he's been working on.

It should add some spice to the Aussie Open if both of these guys play well there.
