Kazakhstan buys Korolev

(sorry if this has been posted)

Tarpischev told so in his Monday's interview with the Russian sports daily "Sport-Express".

Re: Kazakhstan buys Korolev

Russians should start getting worried. I mean, one thing is journeymen like Schukin being bought, but they're now buying the best Russian youngsters - Golubev, Kuku and now Korolev. Will they buy Donskoy and Belyaev too?

Re: Kazakhstan buys Korolev

Kazakhstan obviously offered him a great deal or he wouldn't have done it. Russia has a lot of top players so maybe Korolev isn't their priority, but by going to Kazakhstan, he will receive more individual attention. can't blame Korolev for doing what he feels is best for his career of course he'll take the money too

All time: Safin - Schalken - Krajicek - Sluiter - Verkerk - Henman - Ivanisevic - Nalbandian - Ferrero - Philippoussis - Sampras - Siemerink - Blake - F.Gonzalez - Ancic - Haarhuis/Eltingh

Re: Kazakhstan buys Korolev

Why are they doing this? Do they have one of those mad cult of personality presidents with a tennis obsession and lamentable impatience when it comes to home grown talent?

Tarpischev has been whining for years about the lack of money in the federation. Tennis is not a priority like football or hockey. So maybe Kazakhstan didn't have to offer that much really. By the way Tarpi says he is disappointed, but doesn't blame Zhenya, seems like he had plans for Korolev.

There are really not that many guys left to play DC now. Davydenko, Youzhny, injured Tursunov, Andreev in disgusting form, Kunitsyn... Andrey Kuznetsov maybe, in a few years, if he doesn't switch to KZ as well, as he also has had financial difficulties...
Bring Safin and Kafelnikov out of retirement, maybe
