What will Davydenko's year-high ranking be 2010?

Davydenko has been the most successful player of the last 3 1/2 months and doesn't have any ranking points to defend the next 4 months as he was injured last year. How high will he go? His career-high ranking is No. 3 (2006/2007).

1 Federer, Roger (SUI) 10,550
2 Nadal, Rafael (ESP) 9,205
3 Djokovic, Novak (SRB) 8,310
4 Murray, Andy (GBR) 7,030
5 Del Potro, Juan Martin (ARG) 6,785
6 Davydenko, Nikolay (RUS) 4,930

Sorry for the mistake in the poll, I meant of course year-high, not career-high.

6 I think. He deserves to be higher with the way he played at the end of last year and at the start of this year. I just think it's going to be really tough for him to pass any of the top 5 guys.

Re: What will Davydenko's year-high ranking be 2010?

Since and including Madrid, Davydenko has accumulated the 4th most points.

Rank ATP Player (country) Total (no restrictions)
Since Rank points
(+inc.) earned since
Madrid Madrid
1	1	Roger Federer (SUI) 8090 pts
2	3	Novak Djokovic (SRB) 5220 pts
3	5	Juan Martin del Potro (ARG)	5215 pts
4	6	Nikolay Davydenko (RUS) 4740 pts
5	4	Andy Murray (GBR) 4040 pts
6	8	Robin Soderling (SWE) 3300 pts
7	2	Rafael Nadal (ESP) 3180 pts
8	7	Andy Roddick (USA) 2420 pts
9	13	Gael Monfils (FRA) 1870 pts
10	9	Fernando Verdasco (ESP) 1835 pts
11	10	Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA)	1790 pts
12	11	Fernando Gonzalez (CHI) 1765 pts
13	18	Tommy Haas (GER) 1595 pts
14	15	Gilles Simon (FRA) 1505 pts
15	14	Marin Cilic (CRO) 1460 pts
No matter the result of the Doha final, I don't think Davydenko has ever come into a Grand Slam as such a real contender. Despite my claim last year that the ATP now has the 'big 5', I think Davydenko is a real chance to crack the top 5 again before Roland Garros.

Hard to say.

Davydenko has an awful amount of points to defend in the 2nd half of the season.

Probably just stay in the top 8 I hope.

Re: What will Davydenko's year-high ranking be 2010?

i voted 5

lasr year he didn't play the AO or the masters in Miami and Indians Wells so he has a lot to gain there. If he performs well at the beggining of the season, he won't be under too much pressure to perform as well in the second half as he did last year.

Re: What will Davydenko's year-high ranking be 2010?

Every season he has his ups and downs - more so than someone like Djokovic who is pretty steady. Usually Nikolay has a couple stretches of early losses during, which is natural considering his being a human and his high-risk playing style. But that affects his year-end ranking.

The fact that this thread exists angers and worries me a little bit. I prefer Davydenko flying under the radar rather than being a favorite for the AO. I think he'll have a really good shot at winning three of the Slams this year considering the weakening of the world's Top 2. But he's never been in a Slam final before and he hasn't been in a SF for years, so a lot of it depends on Davydenko's mental strength. We don't know if he'll step up his game under pressure or not. I care more about him finally winning a Slam than getting back the #3 ranking.

"Hard to say."

Djokovic // Del Potro // Paire // Thiem // M. Zverev // Youzhny
Coric // Khachanov // Donaldson // A. Zverev // Bublik
Ferrero // Rafter
