Unreal performance, best I've seen Andy play for a very long time.

Re: Brisbane QF: [1]Andy Roddick def. Richard Gasquet 6-3, 7-6(5)

Richard played reasonably ok in the 2nd set, first serve still letting him down at crucial junctures.

Andy's serve is still madness. How on earth can someone serve at 80% per set is beyond me.

Good first set for Andy. Didn't convert a lot of BP's, but he was constantly pressuring Gasquet's serve. 2nd set he turned into the guy who is content with holding his serve and getting into a tiebreak. Hate it when he does that. Stopped coming to net completely and let Gasquet find some range. Still got it done in 2 so can't complain much. Do like what I see when he decides to come to net though. Who would have thought solid net play and Roddick would ever find a way into the same sentence? Gimme Andy and an Aussie Open, pleaseee!

Berdych should be a good test tomorrow.

Re: Brisbane QF: [1]Andy Roddick def. Richard Gasquet 6-3, 7-6(5)

Andy came in with a good gameplan....hit approaches to the Gasquet forehand and force him to pass. Worked stunningly well in the first set.

Gasquet served a lot better in the 2nd set....hence the tiebreak.

Andy served too big in the tiebreak, while Richard was missing first serves. Eventually that got the best of him. Andy hit a pretty nice backhand pass a mini-break down in the breaker.

Gasquet isn't back to full form yet....he hit some gorgeous backhands as usual but he still needs to sort out the forehand.

Andy seems to be in pretty good form....hitting his groundies with consistency off both wings....and his volleys were as good as I have seen them(which isn't saying much, but still). Glad to see him back from injury in this form.

Andy's backhand looked really solid in the first set. Improved. Almost, dare I say it... good? But as a huuuuuuuuuuuuge fan of these two, I enjoyed the match. nice rallies, nice points. And nice exchange at the net

Maybe he's already preparing himself for another run at the Wimbledon title.

I dislike Roddick, but again, if he shows up during the grasscourt season serving like this and volleying competently and thus manages to take out either Murray or Nadal, I'll be all for it.

Timid performance from Richard. He was given a chance to take it to three but refused to do so (twice up a mini break in tiebreak).
Roddick played better than average but not even close to his best match.
Richard for some reason is afraid of Andy.

The second set was good tennis from both. Roddick serving like a maniac and Richard doing the beautiful shots. That dropshot attempt in the TB from him was stupid, though. It might have changed things, had he gone 3-0 up. But Roddick played well and deserved the win.

I honestly wouldn't mind if he snuck one in here at the Aussie to be honest. This is the Grand Slam where you get the surprise finalists. Not saying Roddick would be the biggest surprise but he has never been able to get over that SF hump here, and outside of Wimbledon this is his best GS IMO. I just don't see the dominance from the top players anymore we have seen in years past. This is sort of transition phase for tennis if you will. Young crop getting better. Federer on the back 9 of his career. Nadal you never know how his knees will hold up, and it's HC. Novak having his inconsistencies. I think Andy has one, maybe two years to add one more GS trophy to his resume, why not Down Under?

Well if he plays the way he did today at the AO, I really wouldn't be surprised if he went really far into the AO, but then I doubt he will
