Doha QF: Federer b. Gulbis 6-2, 4-6, 6-4

Looks like the old man still has some gas left in the tank for a hard fought third set. Gulbis looked in good form and at times it seemed like he was on fire. However, he was somewhat inconsistent throughout the match. Federer on the other hand didn't look particularly good today and at times it seemed like his defense was his main weapon against the offensive flat shots of Gulbis. But he got the job done at the end.

Next up: Kolya/Karlovic.

Those 6 UE's in a row at the end really cost him :P

Re: Doha QF: Federer b. Gulbis 6-1, 4-6, 6-4

Two woeful service games in the final set for Gulbis. First one he throws in two doubles and a wild mis-hit, then when he gets lucky and Fed gifts the break back, he goes nuts again.

For all that periods of the match were good for him, it's all a waste of time if you're going to explode under the pressure near the end of the match. He might as well just have eaten two bagels.

First set was 6-2 bro
But Fed played really well in the first and okay in the second and third.
Ernests showed was he's capable of (at least for patches of the match)

That was utter shit from Gulbis. Any top 50 ranked player would have beaten federer today. Looks like Davydenko V Nadal final in the making for sure.

Gulbis better learn how to hit second serves.

Gulbis is like an Ivanisevic.Huge serves and can win matches against anyone if they keep it up together but in most cases their head get the better of them

Talking about a brainless ballbasher...
This Gulbis is more and more becoming an all-serve guy.

You're talking like Federer was in his worst form ever...that was not the thing here, I think Gulbis actually played very well for big parts of the match.

Re: Doha QF: Federer b. Gulbis 6-2, 4-6, 6-4

pretty much a serving contest. gulbis tried to win with groundstrokes in the first set but made really lots of UE and the score became 62. then he really upped his serve and it's better that federer's and the score was 64/ at the end federer became more defensive and won 64. but overall a very bad match for both. i don't know if i someone can find more that a couple highlights from this match
