Not a bad 2nd set from Rochus Defo didn't deserve to lose it 6-2

yawn, fed was barely trying, rochus had to go way out his comfort zone just to win a few games.

Yeah, Rochus isn't actually a quality opponent, but he did play rather good, 18 winners to 11 UEs isn't something to be ashamed of.

But I haven't seen Roger playing this well since I don't remember when. 47 fuckin' winners LOL in a 6-1 6-2 match?

Stats couldn't be more meanignless considering the opponent, best you can say is that it's "entertaining". Very sloppy especially in the second set but first match of the year, crappy opponent toussa toussa.

Maybe it's a bad count though... but, perhaps not, because I seem to remember that most points he won were winners. 16 in the first set, and he won 24 points total; in the second set, he won 41 points, so it means 31 of those were winners/aces. Still sounds a bit too much, perhaps they counted a forced error here and there as a 'winner'.

Oh? Is Federer back? I'm happy if that's the case.

Re: Doha R1: Federer def C. Rochus 6-1 6-2

Fed played pretty damn well. Excellent ball striking. He was speedy, and his volley and dropshot game crisp.

He flubbed a few strokes with some lazy footwork (that saved Rochus another break on his serve), but other than that looked solid.

Biggest thing that impressed me was his return of serve. He was really punishing Rochus second serve, and even hit a bunch of clear winners on the first. You almost never see Federer play aggressively in the return game, and its clear that he has been practising it.

Can't gleen much from playing CR. But if Fed is attempting to be more aggressive on ROS then I'll be very happy.

yeees yeees it was only a bagel boy, we know...

However, need I remind you of a certain other player who also doesn't exactly hit 2nd serve bombs? I wish Federer would just once pummel that particular 2nd serve, like this.
