Brisbane R1: Ball d Zverev 7-5 6-1

Good first up win for someone who hasn't won a singles match in around 3 months. Andy Roddick up next for Carsten, could Carsten be the saviour for Aussie tennis?

Nice win and I'm guessing he is over the injury he had. I think he could pose a couple of problems to Roddick if he believes in himself. Zverev had been in pretty bad form at the end of last year as well so it might have just been luck of the draw. Too early to say how far he will go though given his inconsistency but he has a huge opportunity this summer to make himself known to the general Australian public who watch tennis once a year.

Baker (USA) - Bedene (SLO) - Bellucci (BRA) - Berta (SWE) - Cuevas (URU) - Domijan (USA) - Ebden (AUS) - Estrella (DOM) - Grigelis (LTU) - Guccione (AUS) - Heliovaara (FIN) - Kavcic (SLO) - King (BAH) - Kontinen (FIN) - Kubler (AUS) - Lajovic (SRB) - Matosevic (AUS) - McGee (IRE) - Millman (AUS) - Mitchell (AUS) - Nielsen (DEN) - Nieminen (FIN) - Paire (FRA) - Udomchoke (THA)

The usual Zverev zero-effort second set I see.

An interesting fact that most people probably wouldn't know is that Carsten served an ace on every point in the last game of this match so thats pretty impressive.

That is impressive.

He could give Roddick problems, but I'd still fancy Andy to pull through.

Ball is good

As for Roddick, maybe he could take a set, but can't see him winning it.

Don't forget about Zverev's broken wrist.

That is not impressive, that just shows what a pathetic tanker Zverev is.
