Re: Tennis Ukraine

Dolgopolov is No. 81 and Marchenko is No. 84 since March 1, 2010! Congratulations!
+ Stakhovsky is No. 70. This is the first time when we have 3 Ukrainians in the top 100!!!

A shout out to OLEKSANDR DOLGOPOLOV JR. He's up to No. 69 in the world this week after starting the year No. 131.

Re: Tennis Ukraine

Exactly. People who doubted before the season soon will have to take their words back... Still he is getting very little recognition. I think he needs to make some appearances on the main tour. The current ranking allows him to do that. Maybe Casablanca ATP or so.

His nearest plans are Casablanca, Monte-Carlo, Barcelona, Rome, Madrid and RG. You could already find his name in the entry lists of the first four tournaments...

Re: Tennis Ukraine

Next week Stakhovsky will be No. 66 (+6 up from previous No. 72), Dolgopolov 70 (-1) and Marchenko 77 (+8). I guess Illya Marchenko will be in the top 50 to the year end!
See predictions on ...

Re: Tennis Ukraine

So 3 guys in top 80 and still flying under the radar. Oleksandr will play a qualifier in Casablanca; all ten of his fans on MTF hope it won't be Jarkko Nieminen. Koubek can be obviously tricky too, and even Gil without a serve and without backhand... sigh... Welcome on the ATP main tour.

Re: Tennis Ukraine

Oh yes, definetly much better than "tennis Slovakia".

Marchenko beat PHM this week so he must be very good. Could break into top 50...and all three of them, but especialy Dolgopolov and Marchenko.
Stakhovsky has a more mug destiny.

Re: Tennis Ukraine

Stakhovsky has had an average season, not bad, not great. I think he has the potential to be top 40 or 50 consistently, but I doubt any more.

Dolgo has been great in challengers, and mediocre in ATP. He has great potential---on clay. I'm not sure where his career is headed. I could see him top 20-25 consistently, and I can see him being a clay court journeyman on the fringes of the top 100.

Marchenko is a good player, but I have to see more of him to be sure about his future. One thing for certain of him, he is going to have to prove he can consistently win when not playing on an indoor hard surface.
