Will Nadal go down as the ultimate example of a 14 slam wonder?

Tier 3 in history just as his uncle suggested.

Not amongst Sampras or Fed,

Not amongst Laver Borg or Aggasi;

But Nadal is in his own tier.

Re: Will Nadal go down as the ultimate example of a 6 slam wonder?

What are you talking about?

Are you saying is Nadal going to go down as the best 6 slam run in history? If that is what you saying, then absolutely no way. Unless you consider getting his first 4 Slams at Roland Garros and then 2 at other slams so amazing...

Federer / Haas / Safin / Gaudio / Kuerten / Youzhny / Nadal / Gonzalez / Ljubicic / Hewitt / Soderling / Wawrinka / Coria / Nalbandian / Kohlschreiber

Right because Becker and Edberg have been erased from this universe. I know you think this is the type of post that garners a lot of attention at MTF, which is true, but at least show a little bit of knowledge.

The same thing as a 1 slam wonder..but with 5 times the respcet.

So Roddick, Djokovic etc are 1 slam wonders as an insult, but spartans for winning the slam they did win.

Nadal is a 6 slam wonder, lampooned for his failures like being downed by Tsonga, Del Potro etc but admired for his Spartan like qualities in the 6 slams he did win.

Federer is a 15 slam wonder, but has been so dominant with only minor hiccups that you really dont notice his failures amongst his achievements. With Nadal theres a lot missing, a lot of blunders and the list has been growing over time (last 2 years) not narrowing.

Perhaps a better title could have been "Will Nadal go down as a 2 slam wonder OUTSIDE of Paris". That better sums up the scenario as it may look presently.

Re: Will Nadal go down as the ultimate example of a 6 slam wonder?

A 2 slam wonder outside of Paris? So Djokovic is a zero slam wanna-be outside of the Australian Open, as is Patrick Rafter a zero slam wanna-be outside of the US Open, or Federer a 9 slam wonder outside of Wimbledon.

I don't understand this forum.

Not to mention the fact that Nadal hasn't had his big shot at regaining the French Open crown which will be in 2010, nor the Wimbledon crown, nor had the chance to defend his AO title.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

I hope and believe he has more slams in him. I can't think why he can't get into double figures. He just needs to get some confidence back and look after his knees and stop playing so many tournaments.

Re: Will Nadal go down as the ultimate example of a 6 slam wonder?

he is not a "wonder", winning 6 slams required a lot more than lucks ., discard the grass you are smoking, they were long expired

Rafa! Rafa! Rafa!

Epic movies, like brokeback mountain, are seldom found in the industry or worthy for the mainstream viewer. As often as I have watched the clips of this movie, I always find something more to it. For one, the gay stuff doesn't enter the picture for me, only the dimension of the highest love I have ever witnessed in life or on film.
