Did Andy Murray have one of the shortest stays at world no.2 in recent history?

Was thinking that with the Fedall era we have been used to world no 2 being world no 2 for a very long time.

Does anyone know who the last player was to have a stay at world no 2 shorter than Murrays?

Ljuba? I think he was the "real number 2" for some time but from what I recall it wasn't for too long.

I think Alex Corretja was ranked #2 for 2 weeks in february 1999

it's interesting he was also quite close to reaching #1... only 200 points away from pete

You're too young to remember he called himself a "real number 2"

Since 1999 all the players to have peaked at 2 weren't there very long.
Corretja = 2 weeks (1999)
Murray = 4 weeks (2009)
Haas = 6 weeks (2002 - 2 stints)
Norman = 6 weeks (2000)

lllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

dunno but it's kind of embarrassing. :-(

Q. When you've played as few matches as you have over the last two, three months, did you ever lack motivation to go out and practice?

ANDY RODDICK: Motivation? No. I enjoy what I do. I enjoy what I do. You know, I've never been one to, you know, blow off practice or, you know, do anything like that.

You know, I'd be lying if I said I'm looking forward to practicing the next two days as opposed to playing here. That part is gonna suck...(2010 Aegon Championships)

Doesn't matter how long it was, it's still longer than Djokovic up to now.

Only on MTF would it be suggested that a player should be embarrassed for being considered the 2nd best player in the world, however briefly it might have been.
