Hewitt's cover is retiring, then?

Good luck in his post-tennis career.

In Chennai 07 def. David Nalbandian in 3 sets.
In Dubai 07 took Federer to 3 sets.

Mardy Fish!

Brian Baker - Steve Johnson - Lleyton Hewitt - Carlos Berlocq - Tommy Haas - Ivo Karlovic - Richard Gasquet - Kevin Anderson - David Ferrer - Michael Russell - Fabio Fognini - Dustin Brown - Somdev Devvarman

Re: Pless to retire from professionel tennis

That's one retirement I don't mind seeing. Don't get me wrong, he had an OK game to watch, but his attitude on court was absolutely horrendous and made me dislike him more and more as the years went on. I wish him the best though in his post-pro tennis life, and am sorry for him that he never truly delivered the potential as a pro that he displayed as a junior. But I won't shed one tear over this. His results have been so dreadful the last two years that it isn't altogether surprising either.

Pless had match point to play in Lyon's final 2002. Ironically he played then against Mathieu

I distinctly recall watching that match and feeling utterly depressed at the prospect that this was the future of men's tennis - two players just going wham-bam all day, no creativity, no tactics, accompanied by shouting and fist-pumping after every point they won. And before somebody says it, the game we have now may be largely one-dimensional but it isn't anywhere near as bad as that match suggested it would be.

Mathieu had such an attitude during those tournaments he won, with the aforementioned fist pumps and working up the crowd, it was comparable to Roddick; and yet since the DC final defeat, he's always come across as somewhat timid and inhibited on court, it shows how a big match can change everything.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Apparently this match had a profound impact on women's tennis That is a perfect summary of the state of their game.

Poor Pless he always seemed so sad in the tennis court like a raw material without briliance...

He made just over a million total, with costs taken away not sure if that's much.
