Is Djok the next Roddick to end with one Slam?

I know that maybe too early to call it.

but Murray and Nadal keep going and with Federer leading the way that Djok may not have any chance this year If Djok not improve.

He is still very young. Will he be another Roddick????????

Roddick was also young when he got his first Slam, but Then He got nothing since 03 (21 years)

GO Roger Federer, Nick Kyrgios, Borna Coric, Vasek Pospisil, Kei Nishikori, , Milos Raonic, Jerzy Janowicz, Grigor Dimitrov, Dennis Novikov and Bernard Tomic and Mikael Ymer

Thiem will be No 1 by Dec 2017
Nick Kyrgios will be No 1 by Sep 2018
Mikael Ymer will be No 3 by Dec 2018
Alexander Zverev will be No 3 by Dec 2017

I didn't realize Andy's career was over, did I miss something?

He miss the maybe last chance in England. Do you still believe that he have a chance with Murray and DEl growing and Nadal returns and Fed still best

Maybe but at 22 this thread is a massive over reaction in my opinion.

But even Murray hasn't won a slam. Until he proves it.
No idea. I think the answer is NO, but not 100%sure.

Fedal era doesn't have long left, so he won't be a one slam wonder just as Murray and Del Potro won't be slamless wonders.

Re: Is Djok the next Roddick to end with one Slam?

Djokovic has age thus time on his side and he has more talent

he can get even fitter

he can add more net game in his arsenal and it's a good idea that he's hired T.Martin to help him

he will gain more experience and learn from them

he's done something that Roddick will never accomplish in his career and that is to make the semis or better in ALL 4 majors so it is proof that he doesn't struggle,no matter the surface

can he get better on clay?well he's proven how much progress he made this clay court season

Martin will help him on grass too so I certainly see this guy winning 5+ slams in his future

....Never realized 26 was a death year. Nor did I realize that someone who's become better than he was years ago meant he no longer had a chance to win anything anymore.

With the exception of Federer and Murray, if the draw were to open up, not only Djokovic or Roddick, but Nadal and Del Potro have an exceptional chance to win any draws with the exception of clay courts.

This achievement is given too much credit. Look at the diversity and lack of surface specialists on clay and grass right now.

maybe not on clay or grass but it's safe to say that for now both james blake and andy murray are both hard court specialist
not long ago and still to this day the likes of Hewitt and Roddick;Blake still about about clay court specialists as an insult;guess it's safe to say that those who grew up on clay:Federer and Nadal are the ones winning the majors and not the hard court specialists

the last slam winner grew up on clay toojokovic

the 21 century player is shaping out to play well in all 4 majors thus means clay;hard courts and grass unless you're Blake

Djokovic is too young to be crossed off the Slam contenders list, IMO. And so is Roddick. This discussion is way too premature.

Djokovic, Del Potro, Davydenko, Soderling, Murray, Tsonga, Simon, Verdasco, Berdych, Blake, Haas, Gonzalez (debatable, maybe clay), Cilic.. all these players are at the best on hard courts.

Federer and Roddick are grass, Nadal is clay.

Soooooooooooooo diverse.

Re: Is Djok the next Roddick to end with one Slam?

hmmmm. interesting notion. well, in terms what will happen, well who the hell knost. both guys a re still very active. djoker is also young so....

I guess a parallel can be made in case there are moments which suggest djoker can become someone's honey - as roddick was to Fed. cause, roddick - bless him - is a very very consistent player. he really gives his best. so he did and played and all - and than faced a wall. but he doesn't give up! he will still push and try and try and bang his head on that same wall... so I would not be surprised if he makes it and takes another slam (maybe even uso 09). he is simply that kind of a guy, a pusher but exclusevly in the sense of his game, but more as an orientation. he has this drive and is going forward. something I respect very much.

djoker is more of a slacker. every other interview of his contains the 'not everything is tennis, one should have some fun' idea. but he is more talented and thus has a lager peace of meat to lean on. that can be sen as his replacement for roddickss seemingly fuel-free engine. so kind of they are in the same pol-position, also considering their rivals. I would not like to sound like a fortune teller but writings are on the wall for the djoker - 0-4 in MS finals this year, frequent let downs vs in the groove players and so on. so yeah, their career's can turn out to be similar in the way they shape out.

reliability...
