Let's recognise that Murray is on fire.....

Since 1990 30 players have won GS's.

Only 17 peoples have won 4+ Masters series events over their whole career.

Murray won 4 in a 12 month period. That's a far harder thing to do than winning a slam. Thomas johanson, Gaston Gaudio, Albert costa have 1 Masters series between them for example.

So please stop saying he isn't going to deliver on the Main stage (slams) because it's in the effing.

Re: Let's recognise that Murray is on fire.....

Is there any need for as many Murray threads as there are. He is a world class player and winning 4 master series titles is very impressive indeed, but he is ultimatley going to be judged on his grand slam record due to his ranking, hype and the fact that he has won every other kind of title outside of those events.

Hahahahaha, Slams count for more, not hard to work out. Asafa Powell has the most sub 10 sec 100m races, but how many majors does he have? Nowt.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Machado wins 6-2 6-1

Re: Let's recognise that Murray is on fire.....

Well, i must say ive been very suprised with Murrays quick rise up the rankings.

Its only a matter of time before he wins a slam in my opinion simply because of his high seeding which will now anable him to consistently reach s/f without too much of a fuss and be more refreshed for the big encounters against the top 5.

Not sure what happened vs roddick, roddick simply played out of his skin at wimbledon, a fluke one off loss, cant see players consistently over the years having too many one off monster performances against him.

No slam = second tier player.

Tennis has no blood passport system, and does basically no out of competition testing.

The methods and drugs used by Armstrong in 1999 would work in tennis right now, with zero chance of being caught (not slightly surprising to anyone familiar with the topic, btw).
