Crazy difference in court speed under the roof, compared to damp/cold outside courts. Perhaps Wimbledon need to borrow Hamburg's air conditioning.....

Chardy much better player than Karlo, he gets more opportunities to break in one set than Karlo in whole tournament

Keep it going Chardy, tough one next though if Davydenko comes through regardless of his lack of form

Yesss.

Great to see Chardy starting to deliver. As others on the thread are saying, he has a lot of potential. I hope he takes it further than most.

Like Beck as well.

Re: Hamburg R2: Chardy def. Beck 7-6(2) 7-6(6)

It has to be said: for all that he's an extremely aggressive player, with all the hit or miss element that entails, he's developing into a solid top pro. Look at his hard/clay losses this year:

Haas RG
Wawa Madrid
Berdy Munich
Gonzo Rome
Monaco MC
Glorious Grass-Lord Houston (this one was heavy, but turned out afterwards Chardy had intense migraines)
Youzhny Miami
Fish Delray (and Fish won the tournament)
Djoko Marseille
Tsonga Jburg (final)
Djoko Aus Open
Gasquet Sydney
Petzchner Doha

Excluding perhaps the last one, there isn't a single bad loss in there, and generally they're to quality players, and/or guys in great form. During the same period he's won 25 times, beating among others Beck, Hanescu, Zverev, Cilic, Kiefer, Fish, Baghdatis, Haas, Ferrer, Andreev and Stepanek.

Yes, not top scalps, but it's still a commendable record for a young player learning his trade. He's probably at the start of a virtuous circle, where solid results > improved ranking > better seeding > better draw > more wins > more confidence, and ultimately perhaps a top20 ranking in the not too distant future.
