Could have at least made it look tidy - 'double-bagel'

Almost happened, considering that sticky service game in the 7th game, 2nd set.

Man, if he doesn't get out of this slump he's been in for practically a year, he'll soon fall out of top 100 as a large chunk of the points is from one of the masters played pretty soon

No breadsticks or bagels... probably explains the empty feeling I have right now.

If at first you don't succeed, lower your standards.

Stinkingly bad.

I was hoping getting on to these hardcourts and playing these MMs might get him going again...

Re: Indy RI: Gicquel defeats Gulibis 6-2 6-3

I like both players, but what a contrast they are. Marc played futures for so many years he probably lost count. Most guys would have given up on the dream long before he did. Finally, he broke into the top-100 at age 28, which is rather amazing. I'm sure he appreciates the fact that after his long journey, he is traveling the world and getting paid to play a sport he loves in the biggest and most prestigious tennis tournaments.
On the other hand you have Ernests, who comes from an unbelievably wealthy family and broke the top-100 at 18 years old. Problem is, he doesn't even have a fraction of the understanding or appreciation that comes with this. Not only that, but you get the feeling he doesn't appreciate the fact that he gets to play a sport for a living or the fact that he was blessed with so much talent.

Anyway, great win Marc.

Like he cares. He's already set for life financially. Tennis is just a hobby.

He should invest some of dad's money in learning how to return serve. 24% of return points won is rather poor indeed.

If Gulbis drops out of the top 100 and doesn't get automatic entry into many events, it will be interesting to see how many wild cards he gets.

Do the tournament organizers still consider him a draw, or are they as fed up with him as the fans?
