RG R2: Federer def. Acasuso 7-6(8) 5-7 7-6(2) 6-2

Jose should have won the first set. Roger should have not given away the second set, and Jose again choked away the third set and was mentally broken in the fourth.

Chucho was playing out of his skin in the first 2,5 sets but choked on the important moments. Roger was just solid but very weak on the big points.

I guess this is Roger's wake up call just like the Andreev @ US Open and Berdych @ Aus Open match.

Stats:
Duration: 205 minutes (3 hours 25 minutes)
Aces: Federer - 11 Acasuso - 5
Winners: Federer - 82 Acasuso - 44
Unforced errors: Federer - 45 Acasuso - 40

RG R2 : Federer def. Acasuso 7-6(8) 5-7 7-6(2) 6-2

Chucho had 3 set points in the first set, then came back from a break down to take the 2nd set.

Once again the mental frailties of Acasuso came through being up 5-1 in the 3rd set, got passive and forgot what got him to the front, once Fed got the 3rd set, then the train had left the station for Acasuso.

Federer will be better for this slight scare.

Acasuso has changed his service motion this is due to some back problems, that herbal infusion can't take care of.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

RG R2: Federer def. Acasuso 7-6(8), 5-7, 7-6(2), 6-2

Fed was clutch in the first set tie-break, Acasuso was playing out of his mind for the first two sets and just wouldn't miss a single shot and Fed couldn't deal with the forehand assaults on his backhand, Chucho then lead 5-1* in the third set with Fed spraying UE left and right, but then he sorted it out and stayed in the rallies and waited for the error from Acasuso who couldn't maintain that level (no this is not where the choke came) , the choking came in the tie-break when Acasuso complained to his coach that he isn't feeling the backhand anymore and Fed took it and that's when Acasuso lost the match and started to fall apart physically and Fed sailed through

SpartanFed!!! but play better from now on

Jose had chances to close this out on straights.
Pathetic.

Should have been a 3-0 routine win for Chucho

Tennis has no blood passport system, and does basically no out of competition testing.

The methods and drugs used by Armstrong in 1999 would work in tennis right now, with zero chance of being caught (not slightly surprising to anyone familiar with the topic, btw).

big choke from acasuso! he had set points in both the 1st and 3rd set, with a double break lead in the later. some great points from both, but what a choke from Jose! eager to see fed's next match!

Major Walkabout from Roger in the 2nd and early 3rd.

Major Choke from Jose...the rest of the way.

From "In the Zone" to "In the Locker Room".

Too bad this one didn't go the distance. Woulda been kinda nice to see.

I love my girls.
