No surprise there. He's past his prime, battling against injuries and never had much motivation to begin with.

Derossi could make use of that number.

Re: Flávio Saretta, the Magic Clown - Retired from Tennis

Such a unique character Saretta. Actually I used to enjoy him, but it was about time he took this decision, really.

There were excellent moments for his fans, like the 4th round in Roland Garros 2003 beating Kafelnikov, some ATP semifinals and the Gold Medal at the Pan Am games.

Of course there will be some guys calling him a mug and I can imagine who will be the first to do it, but the truth is that Flavio achieved some good thing on tennis but just didn't have the necessary focus to multiply them. He sure was a fun character and an interesting guy to watch playing, so he will be kind of missed now.

He loved the party life and didn't always train as hard as he should have.

Played in some classic matches at Wimbledon, beating T.Johansson and Calleri and this is a guy who didn't like grass.

Some classic Saretta here.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Very good match on Centre Court at Saretta's 23rd birthday, I remember wanted badly to see Saretta as a winner, not only because he was entertaining to watch but also because I didn't like Kafelnikov Saretta wasted MP in the 4th but managed to win it in five.

I doubt Saretta will be missed much at least in terms of results. In terms of charisma he is top notch, lol.

But as far as results the current genration of Brazilian tennis players should surpass most of those achieviements.

That things in life, we can´t change. Live by yourself. Die by yourself.

My last shot was a Roland Garros Wild Card request for the Clown, that´s the surprising answer:

Dear De Rossi,

I regret to inform you that the Tournament Committee could not meet Flavio Saretta request for a wild card into the singles qualifying draw of the Internationaux de France 2009.

With kind regards,
