Question Would you be surprised if Nadal beat Federer in straight sets this Wimbledon?

Last year Nadal was up 2 sets to love and looking impressive in the 3rd set before the rain. So having seen that I see it as a likely scenario this year, plus it appeared Nadal was sharper in 2007 (apart from the 5th set) so he can play better than he did in 2008.

I seem to recall Federer was going for 6 straight. This might have been a factor, no???

I'd be surprised if he won let alone won in straight sets.

The funny thing is that I wouldn't be surprised either way (Rafa straight sets or Fed straight sets).

Yes, no doubt all the same people who were "surprised" last year would be "surprised" again this year. I think Nadal will continue to "surprise" you.

If I lose the first set, the match will be complicate, no?

My favorite Federer and Nadal quotes following their 2008 Wimbledon final:

“But right now, it’s not much of a how do you say? a feel-good thing.”
-Roger Federer
"In the last game, I didn't see nothing. The true, I wasn't see nothing, no?"
-Rafael Nadal

Federer was very nervous last year and played like crap the first two sets. Won't happen again.

Re: Would you be surprised if Nadal beat Federer in straight sets this Wimbledon?

I don't think there is any logic behind expecting Federer to beat Nadal in straight sets. There is no trend existing for that in the slams, whereas plenty of trend pointing to a one-sided Nadal win. Most of their battles are in 5 sets but because Nadal won in straight sets on clay (in the most emphatic way) it is likely he eventually wins straight sets on grass (as almost happened last year) or hardcourt as the gap increases when Federer gets old.
