Barcelona should be an AMS and not Madrid

The conditions are better to prepare for Roland Garros, and the tournament has far more history and tradition than Madrid, with winners like Borg, Nastase, Lendl, Wilander or Muster.

Hamburg should be TMS, not Barcelona or MAdrid. Also I wonder why you need to have identical conditions like RG? If you want that, you should have Monte Carlo before RG, there should be variation during the clay season and I really miss the lowbouncing slower surface in Hamburg.

Yes, I used to like Hamburg, it was a nice tournament to watch. It's a shame has been transformed into post-Wimbledon clay court season I think one big clay court tournament in Spain (Barcelona) was fair enough.

Nothing to discuss. Barcelona isn't going to move facilities and don't need to. Most Spanish players treat Barcelona with more respect than AMS Tiriac.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Queens should be an AMS before any of these.

For Carlos Moya it is.

Casachallenger, Newport and Delray Beach are worthy candidates. La Paz should be considered.

Re: Barcelona should be an AMS and not Madrid

Barcelona is a wonderful tournament with a rich history. I regarded it as a better tournament than Hamburg when that was an AMS, and this Tiriac circus at Madrid will always be an inferior to the Godó. If someone gave me a magic wand and instructed me to alter the ATP calendar as I saw fit, I would definately upgrade it to an AMS event.
Being an optional does come with benefits though, as there aren't usually too many clay court clowns participating there, that would be required to enter the event if it was mandatory.

Sopot owns them all.
