ah ok thanks anyway, I was actually hoping to see if there was going to be anymore challenger tournaments held in Australia after the US Open. Usually there are future tournaments held in that period but I'm curious if there are going to be challengers down here because we really need some more tournaments in the Oceanic region during that period of time.

Yeah that's a good question.

If we go back to 2007, there was a 3-week stint late-November to early-December incorporating Caloundra, Brisbane and Burnie...but nothing listed for 2008 in those week slots. Of course, this year, you have already had the Burnie challenger, and Brisbane was upgraded to '250' status. Plus another challenger event in Melbourne. I guess, to put it into perspective, Great Britain holds 3-5 challenger events per year, so it is unlikely that you guys will exceed our number. So, while I don't have a concrete answer, my guess is that Australia won't be holding another challenger event until the very end of the year/start of 2010.

Re: 2009 Challenger tour

The Challenger events are rarely posted a full year in advance because not all of the individual nations complete their schedule. You can check www.stevegtennis.com and click on the calendar link, sometimes he's able to get more info from the individual federations.

Best twitter posts of the epic match:

@dougrobson - Whoever is supplying Mahut with hair gel needs to ink a sponsorship deal now.

@Wimbledon - FYI, with @Wimbledon live scoring devices, please add 50 to the games in the fifth set of the Isner v Mahut match.

@HolterMedia - Nice to see that a three-day test has come to tennis here @wimbledon.

According to that calendar there are no more future or challenger events in Australia for the rest of 2009. Although I know the future events in Ipswich and Bundaberg weren't on that calendar until recently so perhaps they are yet to be announced. That would really suck if we didn't have anymore tennis here until 2010. First Davis Cup then this, maybe this is the punishment the ITF is handing to us no more events until 2010.

Re: 2009 Challenger tour

Matchu, the full calendar simply isn't out yet. You can contact tournament organizers to ask if they are planning to upgrade their Futures events, or whether they are restaging their Challenger events, but any permanent decisions have yet to be made. The calendar simply cannot be published, because many events are still negotiating with sponsors etc.
