Contenders for Roland Garros

Who can challenge Nadal at the French when defending the backhand corner? Its highy doable but you have to stay there mentally and not choke on big moments.

Tennis has no blood passport system, and does basically no out of competition testing.

The methods and drugs used by Armstrong in 1999 would work in tennis right now, with zero chance of being caught (not slightly surprising to anyone familiar with the topic, btw).

Re: Contenders for Roland Garros

Why is Gonzalez in your list? Everyone else I can understand but Gonzalez? Cmon, he is old and cant hit a backhand.

How about you put Gonzalez and Blake as one group.

I am also missing a group consisting of Sam Querrey, Mardy Fish and Ivo Karlovic.

Who will take a set from Nadal? Group 1 mostly because of Djokovic. Fitdave has retired a long time ago, but fatdave could still be fun to watch play Nadal.

Verdasco and Wawrinka are also worth to be mentioned, they could cause an upset and take a set from Nadal if they play perfect tennis.

Ferrer, Davydenko and Murray could all do a good job tiring Nadal out for whoever will face him in the next round.

Anyway, the only person who can beat Nadal in a best of five is Nadal himself.

Re: Contenders for Roland Garros

Great thread. We can analize here all the matchups and the past results from clay in the last 5 years, then predict possible outcomes for RG this year.

Either that or we can fiercely crush our testicles with two large rocks while we sing Mozart's Confutatis.

It sounds equally appealing and constructive to me.

Nadal career prediction: 6 RG, 2 Wimbledon, 1 Australian Open, 1 US Open, 2 Master Cup, 20 Master Series, 65 titles.
(Predicted before RG 2008 when he had 3xRG)
