Wouldn't it be great if Marat Safin could win one more slam?

Since it looks as though he'll retire after this year, wouldn't it be great if he could bow out by winning one more slam (ie. US Open end of the year)? He got to Wimbledon semis last year so he's still capable of a deep run. It probably won't happen though.

I can think of other more gracious candidates to be honest. Safin has lost his desire, he even said it himself.

Did he really say that? Hmmm. I guess two slams isn't too shabby. Anyway, if he managed a really deep run he might get his desire back (well, for that tournament at least). Who knows?

Yeah I can't remember where I read the article now, but he said that he was finding it really tough to motivate himself for tennis season. I think he said this before he announced his retirement though. Maybe he's a bit more fired up now knowing this year is his swansong.

sure, it would be great.

Marat: Last question: what do you think of me? Dinara: You are my god! When you play, I love
to see you. When you lose, I am even sadder than when it is me. When you are wounded, I suffer.
When you speak to me, I drink your words. When you come to see me playing, I am with the angels.

Re: Wouldn't it be great if Marat Safin could win one more slam?

would be a nice story, he aint doing it at RG, and wimbledon aint gonna happen, so the us open is only his realistic chance and thats a very slim one.

still hes given plenty of entertainment over the years, look damn hot throughout and has 2 slams. he will be remembered above others with just 1 or 2 slams for his charecter.

No, it would not. I'd rather see someone who actually cares win it.

I'd rather see him winning Davis Cup one more time Bercy or Madrid would be nice too But I agree, it'd be cool if he won something major in the end of this season
