Question Players who have 3 different surface titles on TMS?

Who are the players with 3 different surface titles on TMS?(regarding indoor as a different surface) I think Rafa is the only person in this category with 3 different surface titles in the same year (2005) with titles in Monte Carlo, Rome, Montreal and Madrid. Who are the other players? (Sampras and Federer also but not in the same year)

Re: Players who have 3 different surface titles on TMS?

LOL You are really digging deep for some meaningless stat for Nadal
The fact that he currently holds three slams and is miles ahead in the rankings isn't enough for you?

In the case of Federer it was only because of big coincidence that he didn't win an AMS on clay+hardcourt+indoor in the same year. For example when he was winning everything in 2004, 2005 he had to skip the late indoor AMS due to injury. In 2006 he didn't win a clay AMS but did win the other ones. And if you count the YEC (Shanghai) as an AMS he did make it.

Monte Carlo and Rome were played on clay and Montreal and Madrid were played on hard.
I don't think it has been done in the same year (in that case it should be hard, clay and carpet) and it is impossible to do it in the same year since 2006 or something when Paris changed from carpet to hard.

I think the OP made the distinction Indoor vs Outdoor only regarding harder surfaces. That's the only sensible one. In recent years you would have a really hard time determining whether some indoor tourney was actually hardcourt or carpet or something in between.

Talking Re: Players who have 3 different surface titles on TMS?

TankingTheSet, of course Rafa's holding 3 different surface Grand Slam Titles is the first in tennis history and meaning that he is a legend already despite his young age. I opened this thread for changing the topic just a little bit

You're wrong about Nadull. He never won a TMS on carpet. Madrid has always been indoor hard, not carpet.

Hear hear! Enough discrimination against grass! Can you imagine if there was a grass TMS, Fed would already have broken Agassi's mark of 17 total TMS titles.

Halle should be upgraded to TMS
