Cilic came to the net at 5:6 (30-30) after 2nd serve, and finished the point with good backhand volley

Re: cilic def veic 6:2,7:6

veic is a fighter...not marin's best, but hopefully he'll be ready tomorrow. this was mentally a tough match for him cause they are good friends

my favorite was the worst number 3 player in the world

Generally his variety sucks. He bases his game on decent serves and hard play from the baseline, therefore I've noticed good tactical solution in the important moment. I'm curious whether he would play something like this against a Top 10 opponent at the same scoreline.

Variety is what he and Brett have been working on the most. His volleys are much better lately, though it was not the case today.
I think he got the first set to easy. He mentioned he never really let his hand loose as he was playing unusually safe for his standards in the 1st. Veić started playing better in the 2nd when he was no longer as impressed with the crowd and the opponent, and it was time to up the game. Good job overall, he will play nothing like this in the semi. BTW, Marin was apologizing in the post-match interview that they didn't provide better tennis because it was psychologically tough for both, cutie

Congrats to Veić, he used that WC really well and fought well in the QF. Some nice DTL BHs too.

Good he has Brett by his side. IMO Cilic's peer, Gulbis, is much more talented but I doubt that KH.Wetter can improve his game tactically in contrast to Brett...

I said it and I still think he'll win it.
First set was solid and in 2nd he was good enough at crucial points.
