Expected? How? On this surface and in front of a home crowd, Izak would be the favourite, or it would be pretty much 50-50. No way was De Chaunac the obvious favourite going into the match.

Baghdatis, Chardy, Tsonga and Pics are the real players there... Tsonga has an open draw to the final. I think Monfils would have played if he hadn't been injured.

In the 90's South Africa had the same tournament in three cities: Johannesburg, Durban and Sun City.
