Ubelievable. These South-American events should be thoroughly investigated or banned altogether. Every year there´s something fishy going on. Of course it can be a real injury, but I just don´t buy it. It´s always the same tournaments with these kind of occurences.

i read that Martin was hit by a passing car during the 12th game so it seems legit...

I'm not sure when the last time it happened in the deciding tie-break in ATP, but I remember that scoreline from Key Biscayne 1997:

Voinea d. Zabaleta 5-7 7-5 6:6(1:2) ret.

Beto is superserious about his tennis, I personally think he would rather eat shit than getting involved in something fishy. But maybe I am naive.

Stop being paranoid Dougie. Not every match is fixed. Alberto Martin is old and injury-prone. If this was a fixed match there wouldn't be a retirement in the final set tie-break.

I tend to agree here. If he was trying to lose, he'd lose the breaker 7-4 or something and no one would suspect anything.

If a player retires when he's winning what happens to bets for that match?

Yeah, maybe I´m just bitter because I had some money on Martin, and I have to admit there didn´t seem to be really anything strange with the odds. But I just can´t help but being a little suspicious with these events. Too many matches that are not necessarily fixed, but still have some strange scorelines. oh well, maybe I´m just paranoid.

Depends on the bookie. Some consider the bet void, some consider the retired player the loser, doesn´t matter who was winning when the retirement happened.
