Re: is djokovic qualified to be n the GOAT discussion

For the next couple of years he has only nadal and federer as competition. Hopefully murray will decide to break curfew and join the party sooner or later.

Re: is djokovic qualified to be n the GOAT discussion

GOAT as in best of all times no, but he's only 1 slam short of Becker/Edberg and 2 from JMac who are all legends of the game, so he's going to be in a pretty good company by the end of career for sure

“There’s so many athletes, tennis players around the world,” he continued, trying to put his life into some kind of perspective, “they want to be the best in what they do. They want to succeed. Many of them, they don’t succeed in the end. I’m fortunate to have this opportunity and succeed.”

No, he's not. For me, the only two people who are really qualified for the GOAT discussion are Federer and Laver anyway. He will be one of the GOATs when's all is said and done, but the GOAT, right now? No.

Yep. Once in a lifetime shot, there's no way he should have lost to Federer at Roland Garros with last year's form. Nadal in the final I suspect would have been just as easy as in Rome and Madrid.

Where he probably went wrong was winning _everything_ the first half of last year. He ended up with a crapload of matches under his belt.

Now? He's probably just the best hard courter, but at 25 he's not going to rack up enough slams with Aus/US alone, unless Nadal's injury problems become chronic - if so, he could potentially win 7 of next 8 or the like. Then he's in the GOAT conversation.

You would be have to be out if your mind to include anyone without 10 slams minimum in the GOAT discussion.
After 10 ypu can at least make a case. Example- laver winning the calendar slam.
