Should Line Umpires be treated better?
First of all, I think being any kind of umpire is already a big, tough job as although you are made to stay on the same spot, you have to always be alert, and not space out, whether in the hot sun or otherwise, and observe.
Still, the ones that do the job know what the job is about. So its annoying to see so numerous line calls being called wrong; an in ball being called out, and in that sense, Safin and Roddick kind of justify all their yelling.
Is Hawkeye to blame? Is the technology making them lazy? Have they started relying of the 3 challenges too much?
I would like to know from people in the forum who are line umpires/ know line umpires; that do people actually aspire to be a line umpire, or is it something people do out of desperation knowing the perpetual embarassment they might go through???
